The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for portions of South Central Kansas and Southeast Kansas, including the following areas: in South Central Kansas: Butler and Cowley. In Southeast Kansas: Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson, and Woodson. * From 7 PM CDT this evening until 10 AM CDT Thursday morning. * Thunderstorms, several of which may be severe, will spread heavy rains across the Watch area from this evening through Thursday morning. Widespread additional rainfalls from 1 to 2 inches are likely, although a few areas may receive around 3 inches by early Thursday morning. With grounds already soaked, the added rainfall will greatly aggravate the flooding situation. * Low-lying areas, areas near rivers and streams are especially susceptible to flash flooding.
